Sandra Bullock Jewish ?

Just in case you wonder if Sandra Bullock is Jewish, the truth is that Bullock (full name: Sandra Annette Bullock) is not Jewish.  






In detail, Bullock, 48, was born in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Her father, John W. Bullock, was a United States Army employee and part-time voice coach from Birmingham, Alabama; and her mother, Helga D. Meyer, was a German opera singer and voice teacher. 

Bullock's maternal grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg, Germany. Bullock's father John, then in charge of the Army's Military Postal Service in Europe, was stationed in Nuremberg when he met his wife. They tied the knot in Germany and moved to Arlington, where John worked with the Army Materiel Command, before becoming a contractor for The Pentagon.

As a child, Bullock frequently accompanied her mother on European opera tours. She spent time in Salzburg and Nuremberg, where she stayed with her aunt and grandmother and became fluent in German.

Rumors surrounding Bullock's possible ties to the Jewish people have been floating around for some time now, but no one appears to be able to pinpoint whether or not Sandra Bullock comes from Jewish lineage or not. Her mother's name is Helga Meyer, but that last name is as likely to be ethnically German as it is Jewish, so the jury's still out. 

Some of the speculation surrounding Sandra Bullock's heritage comes from the bris (ritual circumcision) she arranged for her adopted baby boy, Louis Bardo Bullock, to have.



Bullock was quoted as saying: "A friend of ours helped arrange for a bris at the house, because we couldn't go (to a hospital for the procedure). The mohel (a person trained in the practice) came to us. You have never seen adults more panicked about what was about to happen to their son, but the celebration and the amount of love we felt and the pride in the little man whom we love so, so much became the greatest moment I have ever had in my life."

Needless to say there was a buzz on the Web, questioning why Bullock would give her son a bris if neither of his parents are Jewish.

Adding to the confusion regarding this Jewish ritual appearing out of nowhere is the fact that her ex husband, Jesse James, has been rumored to have somewhat of a Nazi-obsession, and a photo was released a few weeks ago showing James in full Nazi mode, wearing an SS officer's hat and demonstrating his "sieg heil." His father opened up after the interview as well, confirming that his son always had somewhat of an unhealthy interest in the SS.

Sandra claimed she didn't know anything at all of her husband's Nazi obsession. "The photo shocked me and made me sad. This is not the man I married. This was stupid, this was ignorant. Racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, homophobia, anything Nazi and a boatload of other things have no place in my life...and the man I married felt the same. This is something I hope Jesse will address one day, but it is not the world I live in, or have ever lived in, and have any tolerance for."

At the time, James attorney Joe Yanny, assured the media that the image was really no big deal, despite being "in poor taste," since James Jewish godfather allegedly gave his godson the hat as a gag gift. And apparently if he's Jewish, then it must be fine! Possessing Nazi memorabilia does not make someone a neo-Nazi, Yanny explained. As evidence that James is no anti-Semite, the lawyer also pointed out that James lived for nearly a month in an Israeli kibbutz.

Regarding what she wants to teach her new son, Bullock told People magazine: "I want him to know no limits on where he can go. I want him to experience all culture, nationalities, countries and people like I did. I want his mind to be open and free. We were raised that we are all the same. No one greater, smarter, more powerful. We are all equal. I would love for Louis to know that. He has a big, beautiful, diverse family. As long as he knows he is loved and protected and given the opportunity to touch and see everything, then I will have done my job as a momma."
