Just in case you wonder if Marie Osmond is still a mormon, the truth is that Osmond (full name: Olive Marie Osmond) remains a mormon.
Osmond, 53, has always been a mormon. She publicly thanked Mormonism in 2010 for helping her cope with her 18-year-old son's loss (Michael Bryan committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building in Los Angeles on February 26, 2010.)
Marie Osmond told a Las Vegas Strip audience as she came back to the stage less than two weeks after her son's suicide that she has relied on her religion to cope with his tragic death.
"Little did I know I would be relying on my faith, especially as much as I did this past week," Osmond was quoted as saying before dedicating a song to her son, Michael Bryan, whom she called "my angel."
On the other hand, there were many reports that Michael was gay, claiming that his family's religion made him suicide. It is no secret that The Mormon Church is viciously anti-gay, despite their professed love for everyone.
It to has to be noted that former mormon Roseanne Barr, 60, revealed about Marie Osmond's drama and the Mormon faith: "Marie Osmond's poor gay son killed himself because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that "depression" is a lie! Yet the Osmonds still talk lovingly about their church, saying nothing about its extremely anti-gay Crusade. Marie also has a gay daughter!" Barr was quoted as saying.
"G-d is trying to use you for something good and this is your opportunity! Your church is wrong and on the wrong wrong wrong side of things! Get as vocal about that as you are about your diet. G-d bless you too, Marie," Barr explained.
"Take a hard look at the facts now as you use this very sad time for introspection, healing growth and prayer, and become a strong symbol for loving mothers who make no apologies for hatred against their own kids!" Barr concluded.
