Meryl Streep, 63, is mourning Margaret Thatcher, who passed away on Monday at age 87.
Streep, who won an Oscar last year for her portrayal of the former prime minister in "The Iron Lady", states that Thatcher "was a figure of awe for her personal strength and grit."
"I was honored to try to imagine her late life journey, after power," Streep was quoted as saying, adding: "but I have only a glancing understanding of what her many struggles were, and how she managed to sail through to the other side."
