American actress and former model Cameron Diaz (full name: Cameron Michelle Diaz) admitted having a nose job after she had broken it in a 2003 surfing accident.
To be more exact, Diaz, 40, claimed she had broken her nose four times. As a result, she couldn't breathe!
Diaz was quoted as saying: "My ear, nose and throat doctor said nostrils only work one at a time, I think. I only have one that works at any point, so when it's off, the other one doesn't come on. They're going to swipe it through. It's not cosmetic, it's just for breathing purposes. Half the oxygen isn't working for me any longer. There are moments where I can't remember things and I'm going to blame it on lack of oxygen. They're just going to go in and fix the bones. The septum's kind of like a derailed train; it kind of piles up on itself a few times. It's not cosmetic, it's purely medical."
It has to be noted that Cameron was afraid of going under the plastic surgeon's knife, because she had seen some bad plastic surgery photos of celebrities on the web and thought she might destroy her own face.
Diaz told the Daily Express when discussing some of the celebrity plastic surgery disasters: "What on earth possesses them to want to go destroy their own character? To go under the knife to do that, well, it's sick".
There were times though when Cameron was very disappointed at her crooked nose after the accident. She revealed to the Marie Claire magazine: "S$#@ just finds my face - it's crazy."
When she made the decision to have finally the nose job, Cameron told W magazine: "I'm getting it fixed. I can't take it. I cannot breathe at all. One side of my nose is totally shattered - my septum is basically like a train derailed."
Judging by the before and after photos, Cameron's nose was bulbous. Her nasal tip size is now reduced and the bridge is narrowed. Her current nose appears thinner and smaller, but it's a little too sculpted to seem natural.
The question is: "What plastic surgeon experts believe about Cameron Diaz's nose job?"
Plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills Dr. Paul Nassif was quoted as saying: "Cameron had a definite rhinoplasty. In her before photo, her nose looked bulbous and wide especially her nostrils area (ala), the after photo reveals a softer, narrower tip, ala (nostrils) and nasal dorsum. Cameron's nose now looks pretty natural."
Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn confirmed that Diaz's nose job achieved both objectives. "It looks like a combination of both. A septum repair (straightening) can create a straighter nose, which it has for her. Although the main purpose is to restore breathing, it can improve a crooked nose."
Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden explained: "In the past she has admitted to multiple surgeries on her nose to alleviate breathing problems and to correct a broken nose, somewhat understandable as she is a self-proclaimed "surfer girl"".
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer stated: "Cameron is a beautiful person. She does appear to have undergone rhinoplasty when compared to previous pictures."
It has to be mentioned that Cameron Diaz's nose job was performed by Dr. Raj Kanodia, the same plastic surgeon responsible for both Ashlee Simpson and Jennifer Aniston's new noses.
